2010 WIMA Pink Ribbon Ride

Protecta has been a long term supporter of WIMA and their annual Pink Ribbon Ride, which is a motorcycle charity ride raising funds for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
This is always a popular event on the motorcycling calendar, and this year was no exception. Over 540 motorcyclists attended this years event, with the bikes following a route from the Auckland Netball Centre in St Johns, through to Western Springs Stadium.
Protecta Insurance was again a principal sponsor of the 2010 ride, contributing prizes and volunteers for the day, as well as providing funding and marketing resources. We are proud to say that this year's event raised approximately $18,000 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation - a fantastic achievement!
This charity ride always turns out a good crowd of motorcyclists and general public alike, with riders from a large number of motorcycle clubs joining in to help raise funds. Bikes of all types attend, from the smallest scooters and mopeds right through to Harley Davidsons and high powered sports bikes. Most riders get into the theme, riding with pink shirts and armbands, or pink tassles hanging from their bikes handlebars. One regular attendee even dyes his beard pink for the occasion!
